An Introduction to the Folklore of Magic with Steve Patterson March 25th 2017

A day workshop exploring the idea of folklore and magic with special reference to the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic’s collection.  We will be looking at how our ideas of magic and folklore have changed over the years, at calendar customs, spells, charms, witchcraft and folk magic.  It will be a one day workshop with discussions, lectures, presentations and a look around the Museum.

Steve Patterson is the author of Cecil Williamson’s Book of Witchcraft: A Grimoire of the Museum of Witchcraft and Spells and Charms from the Wise Woman’s Cottage: an introduction to the West Country cunning tradition.  He is a writer, Folklorist, Woodcarver and agricultural labourer. Steve lives and works with his dog in an old quarry in West Cornwall. He has been a student of folklore and the occult for as long as he can remember. Since the mid 1990s Steve has been an active supporter of the Museum of Witchcraft in Boscastle, and has regularly given workshops and talks on the subject.
