Book launch and Candlelit evening: ‘Embracing the Darkness: A Cultural History of Witchcraft’, Saturday 4 November

Where better to spend the Hallowtide season but by candlelight at the Museum of Witchcraft & Magic in Boscastle?

Join us on Saturday 4th November where an important new book on witchcraft Embracing the Darkness: A Cultural History of Witchcraft (IB Tauris) is to be launched by the author, historian Dr John Callow.

Dr Callow will start the evening with a half-hour talk on the image of the witch, who haunts our history, our films and literature, and our spiritual imaginations. His talk will share highlights and personal insights he gained in the course of a decade of preparation that went into formulating his ideas for the book.

The evening starts at 7pm, with the talk at 7.30 and the opportunity, afterwards to have copies of the new book signed, to view the Museum and see some of artefacts and images discussed in the book.

There will be a reduced ticket price of £4 per person (locals go free!), and wine and nibbles available upon entry.  Please send an email to to let us know you are coming.
