Fire dances for Midsummer Celebration June 23rd

Fire dances for Midsummer Celebration June 23rd

Our Midsummer Celebration on Saturday June 23rd will involve three different types of dancing.

At 12noon River Moor Coven will be dancing.

At 12.30pm Merv Davey the Cornish Piper will be leading dances around the Midsummer Tree including circular dances associated with the sun and a serpent dance.  Come along and join in!

Then at around 8pm, Sofia Maili and her crew from the Dot and Dash project will be performing their ritual fire dances.  As the dances end and the sun sets, we will be setting fire to two hay and straw effigies created by the very talented Victoria Musson (see https://www.victoriamusson.com/victoriamusson)

Sofia has shared some photos of her work with fire and we thank her for these wonderfully evocative images (below).  Can’t wait to see them for real here soon!

All events are free and take place in front of the Museum.  No need to book, just come along and keep your fingers crossed for good weather!  Wear summery/yellow clothes if you want to celebrate the height of summer.
