Lammas window display just gets better!
Just when we thought our Lammas window display couldn’t be improved, we received a fantastic creation from Gillian Nott (aka the Corn Mother). It is a St Neot Corn Dolly. Here it is in an old photograph (left) in the hands of Mr Nottle, 1953. On the right is Gillian at the Museum with the version she has made for the window display. We love how she’s made this modern photo black and white to evoke the parallels between the present and the past!
Gillian will be outside the Museum during the weekend nearest Lammas (Saturday 30th July and Sunday 31st July) from around 11am-3pm demonstrating straw art and celebrating the harvest season. We’d love to see lots of people there – and you can see this amazing corn dolly at the same time!
