Talk by Museum managers at Lifton Local History Society
Judith and Peter Hewitt, the Museum managers presented a talk to Lifton Local History Society on Wednesday 2nd November. They talked about the history of the Museum and its collection and even took a few objects along to inspire people. The talk also had a particular West Country feel with sections on Cornish cunning folk, Launceston Castle “Witches Tower” and piskies. There was a good turnout and an attentive crowd. Lots of interest in the Museum was generated and one lady told us a lot about her mother’s charms for curing warts. We hope to see lots of Liftonians at the Museum soon.
We also received this lovely email from them:
On behalf of the Lifton Local History Group l would like to say a very big thank you for a lovely evening last Wednesday. It was an extremely interesting insight into the origins of witchcraft and the museum looks well worth a visit. Everyone said how much they enjoy the evening, so thank you again.
Last year we did a talk in Nottingham and we have been approached by three other local groups to do talks this year which is fantastic. We are always happy to talk about the Museum so if you think you’d like us to talk to your group just email the Museum.
