Physical description:
Very jolly green Murano glass owl pendant. The owl has a dark green head with yellow and white eyes and a yellow beak, and a transparent body with green glass foliage inside it.

Part of a collection of jewellery that belonged to Julia Pearce.

The foliage design inside the owl's body resembles rue, a plant considered to have amuletic properties, particularly in Italy, where the owl was made.

The owl's eyes also resemble the eye amulets used to ward off the Evil Eye - in many Mediterranean countries such amulets are incorporated into other objects (information provided by Steve Patterson).
