3105 – Carved pisky: Treen, or 'Black Forest', pisky

- A carved hardwood pisky, probably an example of nineteenth century 'Black Forest' carving, recently attributed to Swiss craftsmanship of domestic and commercial treen.
These items (together with 3106) were probably once part of a larger tableaux, most likely 'match stands' used in coffee houses, smoking rooms and private dwellings.
The pisky itself is dress in a conical hat, with breeches and tailed coat.
