Part of a collection of gemstone jewellery that belonged to Julia Pearce. She also had several books on the magical and healing properties of crystals and gemstones, now in the museum library.

Malachite has been valued for its magical power since ancient times. It was particularly highly regarded in Ancient Egypt - "Malachite shines for me, and I live according to my will." (The Egyptian Book of the Dead).
