3735 – Seated Goddess figure with no arms

Physical description:
Seated Goddess figure, made of red clay or terracotta, with a crescent moon on her forehead. She is sitting in a position similar to the yoga lotus pose, but her arms have been lost. She still has her hands (they are resting on her knees), and her face is still rather lovely.

Information:

For many years, this object was in the Shrine.  In January 2017, it was removed due to its condition/deterioration.  It had a ring in its lap which is still in the Shrine (Museum object number 3738).

It may also have been damaged during the 2004 flood.
