A carved mandrake root and a miniature coffin.
An unusual, amusing postcard that invites you to find out if you are a witch.
The postcard features a picture of a witch in a pointy hat sitting in a weighing chair, with a bible on the other half of the scales. Beside the picture are the words, “Are you a witch? You do not know. Then come in & find out by testing your weight in the Witches Chair against the Southwell Bible.”
It is based on one of the Museum’s signs from the 1960s, and relates to the Plymouth Witch Weighing Chair in the collection. It is an unconventional long thin shape, approx. 21cm (8.25″) long and 7.5cm (3″) tall.
