A traditional Cornish good luck charm.
This round fabric badge features astrological symbols, and faces probably representing the sun and the moon, on a bright saffron-yellow background. It is based on a needlepoint talisman in the Museum’s collection, which was made by Mrs A Dodsworth in the 1960s.
The design is taken from the 18th century book of magic ‘The Black Pullet’, and the talisman is said to “endow the possessor with every virtue and talent as well as the desire to do good”.
The badge is approximately 7.5cm (3″) diameter, and can be ironed or stitched onto your bag or clothes.
