A black pencil with the Museum logo in gold.
This glazed ceramic wall plaque depicts Cernunnos, a Celtic god with stag’s antlers. He is portrayed holding a neck ring (torc) – a symbol of divine power. He is also holding a serpent, who is probably a symbol of regeneration and the fruitfulness of Nature.
This plaque is inspired by the design on an Iron Age silver cauldron found at Gundestrup in Denmark. The glaze is a mixture of greens and browns. As each plaque is individually hand made, colours may vary.
The plaque is approximately 22cm (8.5″) tall, and has a ring on the back for hanging. Not suitable for outdoor use.
