A black pencil with the Museum logo in gold.
This charming miniature statuette of an owl is inspired by Ancient Greek art. The owl is perched on a log, and gazing round him with a look of amused curiosity.
Owls were sacred to the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena, and this may be why they came to be associated with wisdom (including magical knowledge) in British folklore.
The statuette is made of bronze-effect metal, and is approximately 3cm (1.25″) tall.
