958 – Sword

Physical description:

Heavy sword with black thread-wrapped grip and silver-coloured (steel?) hilt. The guard curves dramatically towards the blade and is decorated with a bird and foliage. Magical symbols are engraved on the blade - added by Sanders.

This sword was owned, inscribed and used by Alex Sanders. Sanders made most of his own ritual regalia. He often gave fellow coven members beautiful tools that he had made.

This was loaned to the V & A for their exhibition 'You Say You Want a Revolution?', originally in London, then at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan.
