4325 – Carved Wooden Panel

A large wooden panel carved with representations of spiritual beliefs, including deities, mythological animals, spirit beings etc. The carvings include a witch and her cat on a broom, runes, and the abracadabra spell. The panel also has objects such as shells and a stone carved into the shape of an eye set into the wood.

4324 – Doc shiels’ coven Sword

A very large sword, in the style of a medieval broadsword, with a hilt with the grip wrapped in twisted wire, decorative finials at the ends of the cross-piece, and a pommel suggesting stylised leaves. It seems likely to be made of steel throughout, but with some kind of lacquer coating that gives the hilt the appearance of brass and the blade a bronze colour. The finials are in the shape of small monkeys' heads, possibly representing the God Hanuman, suggesting that the sword may have originated in India.

4322 – Statue of Venus

A rather charming (though clearly aimed at tourists) white plaster statuette of Venus. It depicts her nude (though with strategically flowing hair), standing on a large scallop shell. Clearly inspired by Botticelli's painting 'The Birth of Venus'.

4320 – Fortune Telling Doll

A small ceramic doll with a rather delicate face and hands, wearing a felt cape, and with a skirt consisting of numerous (probably a hundred or more) folded papers, in different colours (muted blues, reds, golds etc.). Poetic fortunes are handwritten on the papers (the papers have to be unfolded outwards at the base to read them). The doll is also holding small scrolls of paper in her left hand. Originally she would have stood on some kind of rotating stand that would have been spun to select the fortunes. Victorian.

4319 – Scourge

A handmade scourge with a handle wrapped with strips of brown leather, and with the ends trimmed with what appears to be black sheepskin or goatskin; with a leather loop at one end of the handle, and at the other a long length of strips of leather twisted together to form a kind of rope, which is then bound so that the leather strips are loose at the end.

4318 – Stone Athame

A very striking athame with a blade made of stone (some kind of slate)with a diamond-shaped cross-section, and a hollow handle made of a section of bone wrapped in a long strip of brown leather. With accompanying black felt cloth and black, red, green and brown cord.

The outer part of a matchbox - Luckie Dream matches. Quite an elaborate label, red and black on a cream background.

An oval piece of clear glass in a very thin metal frame, from a piece of jewellery such as a locket. The frame has a gold finish, but is starting to rust.

A small white candle, partly burned. Part of it may have been cut off, as the wick is protruding from the unburned end.

4308 – Bottle Containing Remains of Liquid

A small rectangular-based clear glass bottle, with a black cap, containing the dark orange, rather jelly-like remains of what was probably originally some kind of liquid. There is also a lustrous golden deposit on the outside of the bottle, which may be leaked contents. There is the remains of a paper label with illegible handwriting on the side of the bottle.
