Candlelit evenings 2018 (some with Ghost Stories!)

For the past few years, the Museum has opened late from time to time.  This gives people the chance to experience the Museum at night and also to see some of the Museum lit by candles.  The atmosphere is beautiful and as you can imagine, the objects look so wonderful in the soft, flickering light.

There is no need to book, just turn up between 8pm and 11pm (last entry 10.30pm), pay your normal admission price and explore the Museum at your own pace.

The dates for candlelit evenings this year are:

Saturday 26th May

Saturday 16th June*

Saturday 28th July*

Saturday 18th August*

Saturday 1st September*

Saturday 27th October (day of All Hallow’s Eve event) Finishes 10pm

*=with Ghost Stories as an added optional extra, see below

Ghost Stories in the Museum library

On some of the candlelit evenings, there will be an opportunity to hear Ghost Stories in the Museum library.  These events are ticketed, places are limited and it is strongly advised that you buy your ticket in advance to avoid disappointment (these performances were really popular last year).

Tickets are £7.50 per person and can be bought online here:

A little bit about Ghost Stories…Once again the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic have raised the spirits of their deceased Victorian librarians. Join them in the intimate setting of the Museum library to listen to some ghostly tales before or after a candlelit museum visit. If you have been before, this is an all new show for 2018.

Saturday 18th August 7.30pm and 9.30pm
