The Magic of Knitting and Sewing – Workshop with Levannah Morgan

14th September.  The Magic of Knitting and Sewing – A workshop with Levannah Morgan.

This workshop is £30 payable in advance via PayPal using the museum’s email – museumwitchcraft@aol.com (ref LMKS)

Please arrive by 9.50am. Start is 10am with a break for lunch and finish at 4pm.

For many centuries, knitting, spinning and sewing have been used to make magic. This workshop

will explore the magical history and uses of these age-old crafts. We will look at examples of textile

magic in the Museum’s collections and learn how the repetitive, meditative activities of spinning,

knitting and sewing induce a light trance state which is ideal for the practice of magic, and how this

state can be harnessed by the witch to create all kinds of spells and charms. The workshop will include

a variety of practical projects for you to make including protective charms, charms for babies, spirit

houses, house spells and much, much more. The workshop will include full instructions for all the

projects so that you can carry on making things at home. A range of threads and fabric will be

provided for you to work with but PLEASE BRING your own knitting needles and sewing needles

as these will become important magical tools which will be personal to you. Please also bring a

notebook and pen or pencil.

Levannah Morgan is a Devon-based witch and magical practitioner with forty years’ experience of

the craft. She has taught and lectured widely at witchcraft, Pagan and magical gatherings and her

recent writings include A Witch’s Mirror (2013) and a chapter on Moon and Tide magic in Hands

of Apostasy (2015), plus articles for a variety of journals and magazines. She is just completing work

on The Sea Witch’s Companion and a book on her history in the craft in Devon. These workshops are

given to support the work of the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic.
