Loans and Borrowing
The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic is a unique collection of objects – often eerie, mysterious and beautiful – that represent a heritage of magical spirituality and practical folk magic stretching from ancient times to the present day. It also houses a library of over 8,500 books, and a document archive that offers insights into a wide range of magic-related subjects, in particular the evolution of the Modern Witchcraft movement.
Recent exhibitions include Bristol Museums, The Ashmolean, The British Library, Wessex Museums; and internationally for Villa Reale di Monza, Dresden Museums and Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art.
We assess each Loan Application on its merits. Generally a minimum of 9 months notice is required for a domestic loan, and a minimum of 12 months notice for an international loan. We are not publicly funded, and loan fees are levied.
Please note that between May 1st and September 30th the Museum will not look at nor process new loan requests. You should submit your request either before or after these dates.
Our Transport Managers are C’Art Art Transport Ltd. When your loan request and object list has been agreed in principle and in writing you will need to obtain from them a price for transportation.
Curators should read the agreement first before making an enquiry, and examine the UKRG Facilities Report below which your institution will be asked to complete prior to loan processing.
