Exhibition in Cornwall coming soon

This exhibition is coming to Cornwall soon (and involves some Friends of the Museum).  Sounds fascinating.

Ancient Scent is an artist-led project celebrating the process and philosophy of surrealist artist Ithell Colquhoun who lived and worked in the Lamorna Valley for many years during the second half of the C20th.
A group of West Country artists and writers, drawn together by their common interest in Colquhoun, have met up once a month for a year in a series of process based workshops held on location in Lamorna Valley. Each artist/writer has taken Colquhoun’s techniques as a starting point for their own experiments. This exhibition celebrates the individual and collective journeys and collaborations of the group and displays the artists’ work in the authentic setting of Lamorna Village Hall surrounded by the magical landscape which inspired Colquhoun and now, fifty years on, continues to cast it’s spell on a new generation who immerse themselves in Lamorna’s powerful atmosphere and follow an Ancient Scent.

There will be a launch party on Saturday 8th October from 6.30pm-9.30pm where Peter Owen Publishers will also be launching the newly re-published editions of Ithell’s travelogues The Living Stones and The Crying of the Wind. There will be a chance to buy books as well as listen to a variety of readings and performances and view the exhibition over a drink.
