Witch play coming to the Museum soon!
We are delighted to announce that the Museum will be adding another string to its bow and holding live dramatic performances in the library this summer.
The Museum team (and a few invited guests) were treated to a performance a couple of weeks ago. Here is Joyce’s review:
“Museum staff have just had the privilege of watching a preview of ‘Witch’, a new play written by Tracey Norman and performed by Circle of Spears. The play is inspired by the Museum’s collection and the human stories it reflects, and will be performed in the museum library twice a week throughout the summer.
As a magistrate questions a suspected witch and her accuser, the relationship between the three characters develops and shifts to reveal a riveting story that challenges our expectations.
In the intimate setting of the library, the play has remarkable immediacy and impact. It is humane and convincing, full of insights into the mindset and social conditions of the time, with characters who have real depth and complexity. It creates a world rooted in historical authenticity, but still subtly pervaded with an eerie sense of supernatural threat.”
Here are the dates for the shows:
Wednesdays 27th, Sunday 31st July
Wednesdays 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 August
