Patrons’ builds on the successes of the original Friends’ scheme but brings the administration in house.

Our Patrons are the lifeblood of the Museum and over the years have been responsible for funding major projects such as Project Lucifer – installation of LED lighting throughout the Museum; Museum Doors – an Engagement Project for children; and an ongoing infrastructure project which continues in the Library and Document archive. This keeps us very busy in the winter months, when the museum is closed but our work continues. This is just tiny snapshot of our work, which has been much complicated by Covid19.

The contribution that sums from Patrons’ make helps to ensure we can mount an exhibition each year – for 2024 ARCANUM SANGUINIS: Occult Blood – an exhibition curated by WhiteFeather Hunter  and to make additions where possible to the Collections.

Each year we will be bringing you as standard an Annual Season ticket, and an invitation to an end of season social  – in November, roughly two weeks after the Museum closes to the general public. We are launching with single memberships only. A single membership costs £25.00. Upon registration, your digital ticket will be emailed to you, and can be downloaded to your phone or device. There is no need to book; just arrive. In holiday periods, please expect the Museum to be busy.

Patrons’ Day is exclusively for Patrons; there will be no members of the public in attendance. We will be opening our doors to you and showcasing objects chosen especially from our stores not generally on display. You will have the opportunity to meet and talk with Museum Director and Staff. In the evening, we are restoring by popular demand the evening social for those who wish in to spend an evening in Boscastle.

We’ll be revealing our plans and sharing the Museum news throughout the year with you on our social media channels and via the Museum Blog, which is found at museumofwitchcraftandmagic.co.uk.

Some highlights for this year: our sister museum, The Museum of British Folklore is mounting an exhibition MAKING MISCHIEF, a collaboration with LCF and Compton Verney which runs until June when it takes a recess before opening in London in early 2024. A major exhibition for MWM is in development with a London Museum, scheduled to open in November 2024. This is besides lending to institutions such as Bristol Museums, The Ashmolean, The British Library, Dresden Museums, as we have done over the past few years. We look forward to welcoming Patrons old and new to the Museum and to seeing you on the 2nd November.

Best wishes and thanks ever,

The MWM Team
