Magical Knife Blade (Upward Crescent Guard)
£25.00
Magical Knife Blade (Upward Crescent Guard)
This iron blade is hand-forged on Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, and has a guard in the shape of an upward-pointing crescent.
A magical tool is all the more powerful if its user has put some work into it themselves, so this is an unsharpened blade straight from the forge, for you to use to make your own knife. It can be polished with a stone to be empowered with your own energy, or left unpolished if you prefer to draw on the raw energy of fire-shaped iron. The tang is suitable for a wooden handle, but can be wrapped with leather thong or cord for a simpler effect.
Magical knives have many traditional uses. In Ancient Egypt they were used to pierce the veil between this world and the Otherworld to allow magical power to flow through. In the Middle Ages they were used to inscribe circles and magical symbols on the ground. In Modern Pagan Witchcraft they are often regarded as a symbol of masculine energy.
In some traditions magical knives are known as Athames.
Approximately 26cm (10.5″) long.
