Skull with Heart Postcard

This pig’s skull with a brass heart-shape fixed to the centre of the forehead was used as a charm to protect farmland. In this slightly eerie but also oddly tranquil postcard it is shown fixed to a farm gate with the sea and sky calm and blue behind it.

From a series of photographs taken by Ellie Smart of Museum objects out in the landscape around Boscastle.
