Collections Search

The Museum of Witchcraft & Magic holds collections of many thousands of objects, texts, and documents.

Besides the object records (searchable below) we support and encourage independent research via our reference library, which houses 1000s of texts and occult magazines.

Besides the object records, the Museum has catalogued the Richel-Eldermans collection, comprising over 2500 drawings and objects. 

Library and object searches do not require formal registration, and can be searched online. As of 2025, we are adding 100s of titles and auditing the collection in order to move it to a new platform.

Self-guided research time in the Library can be booked in advance with the Museum office.

Slots are available April 27th – May 22nd, June 1st – June 12th, July 10th – July 26th and September 7th – October 25th

In season, appointments are hard to come by and are only available on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays. The Library is open on these days by appointment 10.30 – 12.30 and 13.30 – 16.30. A condition of entry is that all bags and phones must be left with the office, and any permitted photography must be carried out by a museum staff member.

For facilitated research prices, please contact us with details of your project before creating your budget for submission to your funder.

For all of Academic Holidays 2026 the library is closed for visits while Students are cataloguing. Facilitated Research is chargeable as are all photographic permissions and licences for publication, irrespective of author or publisher. Academic Publishing: we reserve the right as an independent museum to make a charge for any time spent by us on working on your behalf.

The Document archive contains letters, papers, and documents, and statutory information.

For the casual researcher it is of very little interest; It is not a repository of craft secrets – for this research the library; we have 1000s of books and a huge magazine and periodical collection.
