Lamen are breastplates to be worn around the neck and over the heart. They often indicate authority or position in an organisation like the Golden Dawn. The object jas two holes at the top, presumably to threat a string or chain through, but could also possibly indicate that it was hanging up somewhere - but this is much less likely. The lamen consists of a black circle containing a triangle , and a border featuring - both featuring some Hebrew letters. The triangle within the circle is a symbol for byss, the opposite of abyss. This highlights the concept of 'as above, so below' with the idea of 'nothing and all'.
The reverse reads 5°=6° Portal. Admission Badge. The Emblem of Hierus. Executed and presented by V. Ho. Frater "Fide et Amore" to the "Isis-Urenia Temple" Sept 1910.
