3936 – Pentacle for Earth

Physical description:
Small wooden disk with paper glued on to it. The paper has been coloured in the Golden Dawn colours for Malkuth which are brown, red, yellow and green. On top of this is a white hexagram. The white border has sigils and the Latin motto of the maker (Veritatem Sequor "I follow truth") written on it. Single sided.
Museum classification:
Ritual Magic
Size:
15cm
Information:

Part of a set of Alpha and Omega items donated to the Museum in 2018.  This pentacle is probably a prototype as it is incomplete (only one sided).  The Museum has a complete set of elemental weapons of the Golden Dawn (see object numbers: 1990-1994).  Object number 3931 is an Alpha and Omega pentacle(image below) which demonstrates how the weapons link to the elements.

Alpha-Omega Collection

These items came from a generous donor who wishes to remain anonymous.  She inherited them from Dorothy May Cox, who was probably a member of Alpha Omega, and perhaps a relative of Donald W. Cox, who was initiated into AO around 1920.
