Original text by Cecil Williamson: 'This heart and breast combination was made by the west country witch known as Singing Sal of Wells - a Mrs Sally Semmens, who was a green witch, as her magic was curative and administering to the sick and aged, as well as the infants and those who do not have all their marbles. Singing Sally used the age old methods of singing, rocking, crooning and stroking her patients on the representation of the symbolic form of the afflicted part. This breast charm was in constant use for nursing mothers who had problems over milk flow etc. It was stated by Sally that the lead used to form it was pinched from Wells cathedral.'
