Original text by Cecil Williamson: 'Witches in the south west use various types of stick made magic making wands, the most popular of which are in the form of short hooked sticks such as the three examples seen here. Remember the saying: "by hook or by crook". Well, these hook wands are used for drawing that which is desired to one.'

Related to document 8147: "THREE HOOKED STICKS. This is a sorcerer's black magic charm. Such sticks are set overnight in the house doorway or on a pathway leading to a bank or garage. The first person who steps over them or kicks them away with his foot will come to harm. There is a great deal of symbolic meaning in this arrangement with which I shall not burden you. But that is why the spell can unfortunately be effective."
