4286 – Green Bottle Containing Small Object

Physical description:
A hexagonal green glass bottle containing an unknown small squarish object adhering to the side. The bottle is sealed with a cork. Two of the sides are fluted, and one has the words 'Not to be taken' moulded into it.
Museum classification:
New Orleans Tradition / Voodoo
Size:
155 x 50 x 50
Information:

Part of the collection of objects in the Voodoo Priest's Box, MWM id. 4220.

Curiously, there is a paper price label on the base of the bottle that reads '1 50p' - British decimal currency. This means the bottle must be a later addition to the box, as the box was purchased in Louisiana in 1968, and decimal currency wasn't introduced in Britain until 1971.
