4307 – Small Fabric Wallet Containing Charms

Physical description:
A very small hand sewn wallet made of grey fabric on the outside and red fabric on the inside, containing a crucifix and a religious medal (stitched in place), both made of gold-coloured metal. The wallet also contains a small photograph of an aircrew standing in front of a plane (a Lancaster bomber) - clearly a scene from WWII. The wallet fastens with a popper, and is stitched with pale blue thread. No doubt intended to be carried by an airman in his jacket pocket as a protective amulet. The outer fabric may originally have been Airforce blue, which has now faded to grey.
