1439 – Glass corked club shaped Witch Bottle

Physical description:
Club-shaped green glass witch bottle containing unknown substance. Bottle has BRISTOL and C KING embossed on outside of bottle and sealed with cork and wax. Probably a protection charm or counter charm to reverse a curse.

At one period these Indian club-shaped bottles were very popular for charm burials for they could with ease be driven into the soft mud at the edge of ponds and streams and so remain in a vertical position. A condition to certain forms of bottle magic.
