Original text by Cecil Williamson: 'Most witches come from the ranks of the working class, which even today with council housing means that their houses are small and with a family certainly cramped and pushed for space. So it was in bygone times and that is why one finds that much of the equipment used by village witches both in the past and the present day is built for table top operation. This is a classic example of the old and the new combined. The old table top charcoal burner with the modern French made heavy miniature iron cauldron type pot. Presented to the witchcraft museum by the daughter of the late Mary Long of Taunton.'

 

Possibly related to document 8080, which reads: "Small charcoal table brazier and iron pot of the type used by Dr. John Dee to melt the beeswax prior to pouring same to form the circular blanks on which he engraved his magical pentacles."
