Made by Kerriann Godwin and Graham King as a replica of a charm mentioned by Edward Lovett in his book 'Magic in Modern London'. He describes "how a horseshoe covered with red fabric was sometimes hung over the head of a bed to prevent the sleeper from having a nightmare," and adds that a shopkeeper in Camberwell told him "that practically all his friends did the same thing and that it was regarded as the best cure for nightmare in the world."
