Light-coloured mandrake root resembling a walking figure, with a vividly and ingeniously carved face incorporating a walnut shell. On stand.

The original mandrake root was a gift from the museum to Bob Richel, who carved it into its present shape. After Bob Richel's death it returned to the museum on loan from his family. According to legend, if a mandrake root is sold or given away it will eventually find its way back to its original owner.
