2305 – Diamond shape pendant charm with photo

Physical description:
Diamond-shaped mother-of-pearl pendant, perforated for a metal suspension ring at the top. Brass ring at centre containing a portrait of an official-looking, balding man in a golden collar. The portrait is printed and looks as though it may have been cut
Museum classification:
Protection
Size:
30x20x8
Information:

This object was found in a box labelled 'war time charms'. It was attached to a display board together with other badges and charms. 2304-2307 were attached to the same board and others had become detached from this board. I suggest that this object may have originally been collected by Edward Lovett, who collected and wrote about WWI soldiers' mascots. Mushrooms were a popular lucky charm motif - associated with fecundity, according to Lovett. T. Cadbury, 16/09/2011.
