Original text by Cecil Williamson: 'For grinding up small amounts of stuff needed to make powders and pills, small glass pestles are used, but it is vital that these pestles have a ragged unfinished end to the part held in the hand. So these pestles have to be specially made and in most cases the witch does that herself.'
