‘ … since forgiven. The author of the Codex Gigas had taken on the notion of writing in one night the biggest book in the world. At midnight he noticed that it would only be feasible with the help of Satan. He sold his book to the devil, but not his soul, and on his deathbed maria came to help him; he went straight to heaven. All who do not believe, take a look at the gigantic Codex Gigas – almost a meter high- in the Kungliga Bibliothek in Stockholm. In there is a full page reserved for a colourfull painting of the devil. He has eight fingers, and he sticks all eight in the air. Out of despair. Ed Schilders.’
