Original text by Cecil Williamson: 'This west country charm is a bit tough on the mouse, but it does have a drastic effect on the local mouse population. They get the message and are up, off and away before you can say chop, chop. The witch lures and catches a nice fat little mouse. A pan of molten wax is ready and awaiting, plop, in goes the mouse, snap, a bit of polished marble slab is smacked down on the wax, while it cools and fat mouse passes up to that great mouse house in the sky, the witch chants her spell making ditty and that is about all there is to it, except to thank her familiar spirit for helping out in the operation.'
