- Round parchment talisman - picture of scorpion (very fine ink drawing) with Hebrew letters, 6-pointed star, symbol of Mars. Mounted on card with (oddly) the word 'raspberry' on the back.

This is the Fifth Pentacle of Mars from 'The Key of Solomon'. The Hebrew letters on each side of the scorpion are HVL, and the words around the circle are from Psalm xci 13: 'Thou shalt go upon the lion and adder, the young lion and the dragon shalt thou tread under thy feet.'
One of the objects that was on loan to York Archaeological Trust for exhibition at the Merchant Adventurers' Hall from July 18th 2018 - February 19th 2019.
