A printer's wood block for a woodcut illustration of women offering images (or perhaps dedicating their children) to the Devil. The block has been inked.

This wood block is an original 18th century block that was used to print one of the woodcut illustrations in the book 'The History of Witches and Wizards' by W.P. (1720). This book was a compilation of earlier accounts of witchcraft, and had a large number of lively illustrations that were very influential in shaping the popular view of witches, witchcraft and the witch hunts.
