4089 – Parchment Talisman

- A talisman consisting of a magical symbol (the kind that is made up of eight 'spokes' within a circle) drawn in black and red on a piece of parchment, with a hagstone attached with turquoise blue cord. With a cord loop for hanging.

This talisman was bought in the museum shop by a visitor, who then later returned it (with salt in the envelope), after suffering ill-health and believing the talisman was the cause.
The parchment is deerskin - an offcut from drum-making.
The design of the talismanic symbol is similar to the one used by Cecil Williamson for a time as the Museum logo.
