4236 – Celtic Head Amulet

Physical description:
An oval bronze amulet, heavily patinated, hollow backed, in the shape of a stylised human head (or, to be strictly accurate, the face, neck and hair of a head). The hair is delineated with diagonal hatching, and the face has the simplified but powerful expression of the Celtic stone heads found across Britain. Celtic, Iron Age (c. 200 BCE); excavated in County Durham.
