Original text by Cecil Williamson: 'Two oranges stuck full of cloves and joined with a stick impaling both. Charm used to ensure a life-long happy marriage. These sweet-smelling little concoctions were generally secured and hidden behind the bed-head or attached to the underframe of the bed. From Lemon Street, Truro 1937.'
