1664 – Pelham Puppet: Witch figure

This puppet was given to the donor's children by their 'Great Auntie Hilda' 20 years ago, when the puppet was already 20 years old.

further information given by Tim (thank you!) explains this is a Pelham Puppet type SL Witch, first created in 1963 by the Pelham Puppet Company in Marlborough, Wiltshire,  UK, from designs by Peter Carter Page who previously worked as an illustrator for Disney. Later versions of this puppet had plastic legs and hands rather than the wood and metal used in this earlier example.

The same company also made an SM Witch (SM - code for moving mouth puppets) with a pink face and metal nails for teeth, circa 1940's.
