Original text by Cecil Williamson: 'Love charms - good lord, their names and methods are legend. But in the west country the witch takes her fee and then directs her lovelorn client to go and find a willow tree by a river bank. There to take a trailing branch end and knot it and knot it, then meditate and recite a love jingle and, then walk away, leaving the willow tree to grow on in peace, with its hanging love knots. This is one such knot, recovered from a streamside tree in Tavistock.'
